WHY CHOOSE SUZUKI OUTBOARDS?

Leading the industry with award-winning technology and designs, Suzuki outboards provide features and benefits that make boating more enjoyable.

Suzuki has a reputation for advanced engineering design and excellent product build – this will be experienced with any Suzuki outboard you purchase. Suzuki has developed a range of outboards that combine the latest 4-stroke innovations with more than 50 years experience of in the marine engine sector.

The goal has been to meet the increasing demands of the boat owner for efficient engines with good performance across the powerband, clean economic running and low noise/vibration. How have we achieved this? The answer is by combining many advanced engineering features, some of the major ones being:

LEAN BURN

DF15A UP TO AND EXCLUDING DF200/250T

The Lean Burn system supplies the right fuel and air mixture depending on the navigation conditions.

THE ADVANTAGES ARE:
Significant improvement in fuel economy in all speed rangesespecially at cruising speed.
Fuel is saved and gasoline costs are cut thanks to improved fuel economy.

Uses 14% less fuel to the original DF300, mainly in the cruising range where the engine is used the majority of the time. Data used in this graph was obtained through in-house testing under uniformed conditions. Results will vary depending on operating conditions (boat design, size, weight, weather, etc.)

OFFSET DRIVESHAFT AND 2-STAGE GEAR REDUCTION

DF70A AND UP

THE ADVANTAGES ARE:

High propulsive efficiency with large diameter propeller

Powerful navigation, maintaining propeller rotation even with a larger load

Tremendous power to turn large diameter propellers, offering quick acceleration.

The engine powerhead is positioned closer to the front, moving the outboard’s centre of gravity forward which creates less vibration and stable steering performance while making the outboard more compact.

The 2-stage gear reduction features a first stage reduction between the crankshaft and driveshaft and a second stage reduction inside the gear case. This design makes a larger gear ratio possible, allowing it to turn a large diameter propeller.

SUZUKI LEADS IN AWARD-WINNING INNOVATION

The Innovation Awards (recognizing technological innovation) granted each year by the NMMA (National Marine Manufacturers Association) are considered among the highest honors in marine technology.

Of the new marine industry products in that year, they are awarded to “a product that shows technical leadership, is practical and cost-effective, and is truly beneficial to the consumer.” Starting with the DT200 Exanté in 1987 and extending to the DF350A in 2017. Suzuki outboard motors has received this Innovation Award a total of nine times.
Eight of these awards have been for four-stroke outboard motors, which is the largest number of awards in the engine category in the industry.

SELF-ADJUSTING TIMING CHAIN

The timing chain runs in an oil bath so it never needs lubricating, and is equipped with an automatic hydraulic tensioner so it remains properly adjusted at all times.

THE ADVANTAGES ARE:

  • More durability compared to belt types of the same class
  • Maintenance-free

SUZUKI ANTI CORROSION FINISH

Corrosion can make short work of a good outboard motor, but it doesn’t stand a chance with a Suzuki outboard.

During production, each Suzuki motor is treated with special protection that is applied to the aluminium surface using high strength bonding to protect the aluminium made exterior parts.
As a result, corrosion builds up on the ‘sacrificial’ anodes instead of on important engine surfaces. Protection against corrosion helps increase the overall engine durability.

SUZUKI PRECISION CONTROL

DF200AP, DF250AP, DF350AP, DF325A, DF350A

THE ADVANTAGES ARE:

  • Less friction and resistance compared to mechanical type that uses actual control cables
  • Quick and reliable operation
  • Lean Burn integration offers improved fuel economy for a wide range of speed.

Advanced drive-by-wire technology provides superior control and easier rigging for single, twin, and triple motors. Designed for the world’s first 300 HP
4-stroke outboard motors.
Suzuki’s Precision Control is a computer based, drive-by-wire electronic throttle and shift system that puts unprecedented power right at the boater’s fingertips.

Using advanced electronic technology, the system delivers precise throttle control and instantaneous, decisive shifting while eliminating the friction and resistance often associated with mechanical cable controls.

SUZUKI ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

40 – 150hp MODELS

This controls every aspect of the engines performance, enables much more accurate control of the running of the motor to be achieved and eliminates most possibilities of human error.
Modern outboards are no longer purely mechanical and, as with other engines for automobiles etc, performance has improved dramatically by the incorporation of computer technology.

The Suzuki engine management system controls the engine ignition system and provides the ideal fuel supply under all operating conditions making adjustments for engine wear and ensuring optimum performance throughout the life of the motor.

It also enables engine safeguards to be incorporated such as over rev limiter, oil change reminder system and enables servicing to be simplified by using a plug-in diagnostic program on a laptop computer to interrogate the inbuilt engine management module.

MULTI POINT SEQUENTIAL ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTION

40 – 150hp MODELS

Multi-point sequential electronic fuel injection (EFI) is a fuel delivery system used in Suzuki outboard motors. Its key features include electronic control, multi- point injection further enhanced by sequential injection.

Various engine parameters such as load, engine speed and temperature  are monitored and controlled by the ECU. With fuel injectors located near each cylinder and further aided by sequential injection, precise fuel can be delivered to each cylinder in optimal sequence in line with the firing order of the engine. Benefits include improved fuel efficiency, smoother engine operation and increased power.

COMPACT DESIGN

Suzuki 4-strokes have low profile slim hoods with a smooth exteriors so there is nowhere to snag clothes or fishing lines. The DF70/80/100/115 and DF140 are outstanding, achieving remarkable compactness by offsetting the crankshaft and driveshaft by using intermediate reduction gearing.

The result is that they are the most compact in their class reducing the profile of the motor on the transom and improving weight distribution, balance and directional stability.

DOHC 4-VALVE ENGINES

40 – 150hp MODELS

Not only does the double overhead cam design produce exceptional power but also its compact combustion chamber and center mount spark plugs provide thorough combustion with excellent fuel efficiency.

HIGH OUTPUT ALTERNATORS

High output alternators deliver plenty of power to keep all of your electronics up and running even during long hours of trolling.

LOW NOISE AND VIBRATION

When idling only the telltale water jet will assure you that the motor is running. Very low noise enables you to talk normally to your passengers or crew when out on the water together with very little engine vibration which adds to the pleasure of boating.

CORROSION RESISTANT STAINLESS STEEL WATER PUMP HOUSINGS

Pre-cast corrosion resistant stainless steel water pump housings ensure that pumps will stay intact if overheating occurs.

SOLID STATE IGNITION

40 – 150hp MODELS

Produces twice as much power to the spark plug, allowing cleaner, more complete combustion and maximizing power on every stroke.

ENGINE IDLE AIR CONTROL/FAST IDLE FUNCTION AND DASH POT SYSTEM

40 – 150hp MODELS

These provide stable engine operation at all times. The air idle control is programmed to let the engine idle at low rpm – ideal for low speed runs such as fishing.

The fast idle function provides quick starts and smooth stable engine warm-ups whilst the electronic dash pot functions when there is a sudden throttle transition from open to closed, smoothly reducing rpm to lessen stress on the engine.

SUZUKI 3 YEAR WARRANTY

All Suzuki 4-stroke outboards carry a 3 year warranty (commercial – 1 year). This is subject to regular servicing by an Authorized Suzuki Dealer in accordance with the schedule published in the Owner’s Manual. Suzuki 2-stroke outboard carry 1 year warranty for recreational use and 6 months for commercial use.
